Playing video games, helping to make decisions faster

The author Daphne Bavelier, Alexandre Pouget and C. Shawn Green reported that video games can indirectly provide for the exercise regimen to hone their reactions in handling various situations.

Research conducted on people aged 18-25 (not a gamer). Then they were divided into two groups.

The first group played a game 'Call of Duty 2' and 'Unreal Tournament', and the rest play slow strategy game "The Sims 2" for 50 hours. During training, these people are asked to make a quick decision for some tasks.

In the task, participants were asked to see the screen and analyze what is going on and then answer simple questions posed. To ensure that this effect is not limited to visual reception, participants were also asked to complete tasks that pure analog audio.

The result, gamers who play action games have increased 25% in speed of decision making with the correct answer.
